Developing and combating food waste prevention has become an important pillar in most companies’ CSR policy. At Plus Retail in Leiden (NL) they are taking the fight against food waste very seriously and acted in the best possible way at the POS: placing an e-Coolio in combination with a Freshboard Traditional in the fresh produce aisle to offer products close to their “best before” date at a reduced price. 🙌 Hands up for this great initiative!

Some food for thought:
The best before date is not the same as the expiration date or Sell Date. The best before date indicates
when a product will be of best flavour or quality.
If you're at the grocery store and the very last unit of your favourite yoghurt has that day's sell-by date, you can still buy it. This is not a safety date, but rather a date for retailers that helps them determine how long an item should remain on the shelf.
